Sustaining Living Culture and Shared Memory
Newport Foundation runs cultural programs because a community is more than its economy. It is its music, its landmarks, its stories, and the artists who keep them alive. We support the makers and preserve the places that give a community its memory and its voice.
Artist Residencies
Time, space, and stipends for working artists to create, teach, and take root in the communities we serve.
Historic Preservation
Restoration of landmarks, working buildings, and public places that hold a community's memory in physical form.
Free Public Exhibitions
Museum days, installations, and performances that stay open and free, so culture belongs to everyone.
Music & Arts Education
Instruments, instruction, and studio time that keep the arts alive in classrooms and after school.
Maritime Heritage
Preservation of vessels, trades, and traditions that carry the story of a life lived by the water.
Community Archives
Oral histories, photographs, and records that keep a place's past within reach of its future.
Long after the buildings change hands, a community is held together by what it remembers and what it makes. Newport Foundation runs programs to keep that inheritance alive: residencies that let artists stay and work, preservation that saves the landmarks and vessels worth saving, exhibitions and lessons kept free and open to all. We believe culture is not a luxury to be funded when times are easy. It is the record of who a people are, and it deserves a steward for the long term.
